Details & Project Brief:

We were originally approached by Anya, The project Architect, back in 2018.

After a showroom visit and extensive back and forth’s looking at detailing options and discussing U values, the opportunity arose to tender for a bespoke extension in the Balerno area.

The extension located at the rear of the property was designed to create a larger kitchen/dining area, the clients brief was to create a modern addition to the property incorporating as much natural light as possible with minimal sightline impact.

After looking around the showroom and spending some time looking at the possibilities the HS330 door system offers, it was realised that with some clever detailing the majority of the external frame could be hidden behind the timber cladding.

Due the products frame and strength, we could get rid of one door leaf (originally designed as a 3 panel door) and reduce it to 2 panels, further improve the U Value and create an even bigger expanse of glass – adding to the wow factor.

This extension, although simple in appearance, shows what can be achieved with good design, careful detailing and a healthy budget for “feature” architectural glazing.

We love the end result, the craftsmanship and the feature that the large glass slider creates, in what is, a stunning, minimalist example of an extension.
